ABOUT

Pam Thompson is a botanical artist and instructor in Pennsylvania who strives to capture the unique, intrinsic artistry of local plants using colored pencil and watercolor. With a PhD in chemistry, Pam enjoys bringing a scientific perspective to both her artwork and her teaching. Her botanical art journey has been shaped in a large part by her mentor, Wendy Hollender, whose guidance and influence continue to inform her work and approach to teaching.
Pam currently teaches for Draw Botanical & the New York Botanical Garden’s Botanical Illustration Certificate Program. While she loves creating botanical art, her true passion is teaching. She strives to create an inviting and unintimidating atmosphere where students of all levels can develop new skills, gain confidence, and find inspiration in nature. For Pam, one of the greatest joys of botanical art is getting to know plants more deeply and sharing that sense of discovery and wonder with her students.
